G.W. Carver Elementary School was recently recognized as fourth in the state and 27th in the nation of top fundraising schools for last year’s Jump Rope for the Heart event.

According to physical education teacher Christy Crowley, more than 800 students participated to raise nearly $27,000.

Additionally, Richmond Hill Elementary was named No. 38 in the nation, having raised more than $23,000 for Jump Rope for the Heart in 2010-11.

“Our combined schools’ donations totaled $50,738,” said Carver principal Crystal Morales. “… Amazing generosity from a very small community without a huge corporate sponsor.”
