Schools get $56,000 boost

Schools across the county got a little help from their friends last week when the Bryan County Board of Education approved Thursday more than $56,000 in donations for six schools.
The donations ranged from funds earmarked for playground equipment to a utility vehicle with a tow package for a band program. The school board accepted the donations during its regular meeting at Bryan County Middle School.
Board member Jeff Morton called the financial gifts “unbelievable,” and board Chairman Eddie Warren agreed.
“We appreciate the community greatly,” Warren said. “This is a lot of stuff … It really helps out and helps the teachers get what they need for their classrooms.”
