Eleven students from Richmond Hill High School participated recently in the Southeast Choral Arts Festival held at Armstrong Atlantic State University in Savannah.
The students were selected because of their musical talent and dedication to choral music: Christina Smith, Arika Johnson, Gwen Leahy, Jyanna Miley, Icelyne Carter, Mia Ricciardi-Kling, Sarah Barry, Donovan Nally, Michael Perdue, Brandon Barrett and M.J. Madison
Internationally known composer, conductor, performer and voice professor Vijay Singh from Central Washington University was the guest conductor. Part of the festival was a solo completion in which 11 of the 120 students from six area high schools auditioned for members of the music faculty for prizes and an opportunity to sing at the concert that evening.
Richmond Hill’s own Barry won first place and a cash prize of $100.
Barry is a senior and has made All State Chorus four out of the last five years.
