STATESBORO — Georgia Southern University recognized nearly 2,600 students for excellence in academics on the 2016 spring semester dean’s list.

Area students listed are:

From Pembroke: Payton Burgstiner, Courtney Cook, Corey Cook, Daniel Klein, Sarah Merritt, Riviera Selph, Teri Shoop, Kurt Shuman, Jacob Stansell and Tara Waters

To be eligible for the list, a student must have at least a 3.5 GPA and carry a minimum of 12 hours for the semester.

Valdosta graduates

VALDOSTA— Valdosta State University graduated after the spring semester.

Richmond Hill graduates were:

Aliyah Johnson, who earned the Bachelor of Business Administration in accounting;

April Ward, who earned the Bachelor of Science in Education in communication disorders;

Brandi Shaffer, who earned the Bachelor of Business Administration in economics and the Bachelor of Business Administration in management;

Joseph Depenhart, who earned the Education Specialist in educational leadership; and

Sara Warren, who earned the Bachelor of Science in Education in early childhood education.
