Bryan County 4-H honored some of its best recently with a dinner at Lucy Belle Farm in Pembroke.
Nearly 60 students and family members attended the dinner before trophies, plaques and certificates were handed out. Approximately 1,100 children in grades four through 12 are involved in 4-H in Bryan County.
Trish West, Bryan County’s 4-H extension agent, said the dinner was a way to highlight their accomplishments.
"It shows the breadth of the work the kids have done this year," she said. "We’ve just grown so much this year."
The program is open to children in public school but also available to those who are home schooled or attend private school, West said. Its mission is to help young people gain knowledge, develop life skills and form attitudes that will "enable them to become self-directing, productive and contributing members of society," according to Georgia 4-H.
