Swimmer turns in record time at national

Richmond Hill’s Preston Jenkins, 15, of Georgia Coastal Aquatic Team placed second in the 200 Backstroke at the National Club Swimming Association Junior National Swimming Championships held in Orlando March 16-20.  
His time of 1:46.14 in this event broke a Georgia NCSA state record for 15-16 year old boys that stood since 1991.  
By getting second place, he earned a place on the NCSA All Star Team which will travel to Dublin, Ireland April 25-May 4.
The Orlando meet consisted of swimmers 18 and under from all over the country. Some events had over 160 swimmers, with the top 32 coming back to swim finals at night.
Jenkins also finished 4th in the 100 Backstroke (49.48), 8th in 50 Backstroke (23.58), 22nd in the 100 Freestyle (46.60), 23rd in the 50 Butterfly (23.36), 24th in 200 Freestyle (1:41.52) and 24th in 100 Butterfly (50.78).  
Rounding out other top GCAT top finishers were: Nicole Menzel, 18, finished 11th in the 1650 Freestyle (16:45.55), 12th in 200 Freestyle (1:50.05), 12th in the 1000 Freestyle (10:01.31), 14th in 500 Freestyle (4:52.34); Patricia Forrester, 15, finished 25th in 200 Butterfly (2:00.78) and 26th in 100 Butterfly (55.50); Ryan Salmon, 17, finished 28th in the 200 Breastroke (2:06.87).
“Preston has worked so hard and has made some great accomplishments,” GCAT Coach and Olympic medal winner Bill Forrester said.
