From March 15-17, swim teams from the Southern Division of Georgia competed for the end-of-season Divisionals Championship at the Tommy Stalnaker Aquatic center in Warner Robins. Georgia Coastal Aquatic Team (GCAT), who practice at the Richmond Hill Swim Club on Ford Avenue, brought 67 swimmers to the regional event who worked hard to ultimately bring home a win in both the men’s and women’s divisions.

The women’s team took an early lead with strong showings across all age groups. The men’s team battled through the last event, eventually pulling into the lead with seven swimmers competing in the 1650 freestyle. Individual High Point winners included Owen DeLoach in the Boy’s 9-10 category and Anthony Whitney in the Boy’s 13-14 category.

In completing Short Course season, the team will switch focus into Long Course season and Summer League. Long Course events are swam in Olympic sized pools, involving travel to other aquatic centers. Summer League--an excellent starting point for those interested in starting competitive swim--is swam in 25 yard pools, with meets held at the Richmond Hill Swim Club and other nearby communities.
