Softball camps: Georgia Southern is hosting a set of softball camps this January for youngsters ages 7 through high school senior. The camps are a great way for players to take their game to the next level. Each camp is hosted by the coaching staff at Georgia Southern at the Eagle Softball Field in Statesboro.

The first camp is an all skills camp on Saturday It is a clinic designed to cover mechanics, skills, and dozens of drills to help improve play at the plate and in the field and will cover all aspects of the game. The participants will be divided based on age and ability so that everyone will get the most out of the clinic.

On Jan. 27, the Eagles will hold specialized clinics covering defense, hitting as well as pitching and catching. Players will need to choose their focus upon registration for the session. For more information about these clinics, please follow the link to the camp page.

GSU baseball

Georgia Southern baseball will host a pair of camps in January.

The first is the Prospect Camp, which features instruction and games in front of the Georgia Southern coaching staff and is scheduled for Jan. 19. Players attending the Prospect Camp will benefit from the combination of instruction and competitive games.

This camp is designed for the player who has aspirations of playing baseball at the collegiate level.

The second is the Winter Youth Camp, which is open to players ages 5-12, and is being held on Jan. 21.

The cost for the Prospect Camp is $105 for pitchers and $150 for position players and two-way players, while the cost for the Winter Youth Camp is $60.

Lunch and a t-shirt is provided for attendees of the Winter Youth Camp.

Gridiron Alumni teams Teams are forming again for Richmond Hill.

Savannah Christian and BC will play on March 23, with Calvary Day and Richmond Hill set to square off on March 22. For more information, players can go to gridironalumni.com or call company president Chris Hall at 530-410-6396 to register.
