Richmond Hill swimmers fare well at city meet

Richmond Hill swimmers fared well at the Savannah Coastal Swim League city meet in Savannah on July 12. The team had eight swimmers place in the top eight and four who turned in top three performances. The Richmond Hill swim team competed July 12 at the Savannah Coastal Swim League City Meet in Savannah.
The team, which had 114 members this year, finished third in the large-team division after eight swimmers finished in the top eight and four were in the top three.
Swimmers who placed at the meet included Zachary Kantanen, who took second in the 6U age group; Jack Hendricks, who placed third in the 6U age group; Ryan Kate Cowan, who was third in the girls’ 7-8 age group; and Erin Hudson and Trevor Cummings, who each placed seventh in their respective competitions in the 7-8 age group.
Also placing high were Emmie Patselas, who finished third in the 9-10 age group; Jada Dority, who was fifth in the 9-10 age group; and Katherine Stigall, who finished sixth in the 11-12 age group.
In addition, Brandon Langley was eighth in the 11-12 age group while Michael Cutchin was seventh in the 13-14 age group.
Veronica Thomspon and Xavier McCartney each placed fifth in the 15-18 competition.
The Richmond Hill swim team had 114 swimmers this season, its largest team yet.

All-Region picks for spring sports announced
RHHS Wildcats

Richmond Hill placed several players on their respective All-Region teams in Region 2-AAAAAA for tennis and soccer after all four teams made it to their respective state tournaments this spring.

In girls’ soccer, first-team selections were Grace Kiser, Ruthie Riley, Carly Vargas and Ellie Filamonczuk. Honorable mention went to Bella Martinez. Arianna Page and Lexi Merry.

For boys’ soccer, Joseph Petrino, Agboade Sobowale, Roman Alvarez, Trever Blitchington and Cristian Marquez made first team.

For girls’ tennis, Hannah Yontz, Megan Bausch and Stephanie Harter all made the second team at singles, as did the doubles team of Bailey Lopata and Caren Bausch.

For the boys, Jackson Martin was first team singles and Alec Shermer was second team singles. Zach Sewell received honorable mention.
