The Bryan County NAACP is set to host its fourth annual Freedom Fund Gala on Friday, September 12 starting at 6 p.m. at Belhaven Acres, Richmond Hill.
The Gala will be a dinner fundraising event featuring a silent auction and guest speaker Jay Jones, an award-winning author and actor most recently seen in shows like Tom Swift (WB), Saints & Sinners (Bounce), and Sweet Magnolia (Netflix).
The theme for the Gala, “Never Forget, Remain Resilient”, is a call to action for guests to remember the sacrifices and struggles of those involved in the Civil Rights Movement, says Luella Sanders, president of the Bryan County NAACP.
“We owe a debt of gratitude to those who paved the way,” said Sanders. “Their sacrifices are not meant to be taken lightly…and even in the face of ongoing inequality and injustice [today], we continue to press forward.”
The Bryan County NAACP has long been involved in supporting the local community. Just this year, the non-profit organization has given out 48 scholarships to graduating high school seniors from Pembroke and Richmond Hill, totaling $55,000.
Tickets are available on Eventbrite via the Bryan County NAACP website. For more information or to inquire about tickets/sponsorships, email naacpbryancountyga@gmail.com.
