Resolution Runz scheduled for Jan. 20
running10k

The 6th annual Resolution Runz is scheduled for 9 a.m. Jan. 20 at J.F. Gregory Park.

The 5k and 10k races are coordinated by the Richmond Hill High School JROTC program along with Georgia Game Changers Running Company.

According to Col. Stephen Renshaw, instructor for the JROTC, the cadets have worked hard to secure local sponsors and the community’s response has been “amazing.”

This year’s Platinum Sponsor is Personal Touch Auto, owned by Jennifer McIrvin, who is the mother of this year’s Cadet Battalion Commander McKenzie Frei.

Mizuno Running, locally sold at Georgia Game Changers, is also donating a pair of shoes to the top male and female runners in each race.

Other local sponsors that have jumped in to support this year’s race are the Scooba Shack, Caesarstone, The Sgt. Audie Murphy Club, Hospice Care of Georgia, Richmond Hill Auto Care, Padgett Insurance, Anytime Fitness, Jalapeno’s Mexican Restaurant, Coastal Empire Beer, The Local on 17 and U.S. Army Recruiting.

Cadet Command Sgt. Maj. Marcela Niles, who is responsible for making sure the Color Guard teams and cadets maintain visibility in the community, serving at local events and ceremonies, and who was part of the planning team last year, is excited for the 2018 Resolution Runz.

“The Resolution Runz are very important to our battalion because the races help to fund competition fees for Raiders and Color Guard, supplies for community service projects, as well as offset the cost of our ceremonies and battalion events, so that all cadets can participate,” Niles said. “I am hoping this will be the best race day yet!"
