Lady Wildcats take Region 3-AAAAA xc crown

The Richmond Hill High School cross country teams fared better than well at the Region 3-AAAAA cross country meet on Saturday at the Fish Hatchery.

The girls won their race to claim the team title. The boys finished third behind Bradwell Institute and Effingham County.

Richmond Hill junior Amanda Elliott continued her dominance in area cross country circles, winning the individual region title with a time of 20 minutes and 25.71 seconds.

Teammate Rachel Hammesfahr placed second with a time of 21:08.87 over the 3.1 mile course.

Bradwell Institute’s Katara Burks was third to pace the Lady Tigers to a second-place team finish.

Also finishing in the top seven for RHHS was Shanee McKee, who turned in a time of 21:58.46.

On the boys’ side, Wildcat Corey Jones ran the course in 16:43.43 to finish second behind BI’s David Thornton, who finished with a time of 16:31.24.

Bradwell’s Jamorris Hill was third with a time of 17:04.02 and Richmond Hill freshman Dax Jacobsen was fourth with a time of 17:05.2.
