Follow Shaquille Walker at the Olympic Trials

Richmond Hill High School graduate Shaquille Walker, who announced he was turning pro last week, begins his Olympic quest Friday at the track and field trials in Eugene, Oregon.

The qualifying round in the 800-meters is at 7:15 p.m. Friday. The semi-finals are 3 p.m. Saturday and the finals are 8:50 p.m. Monday.

Television coverage of the trials is as follows: Friday, 9 p.m., (WSAV); Saturday, 2 p.m. (WSAV), 5 p.m. (NBCSN); Monday, 7 p.m. (WSAV).

All-Region picks for spring sports announced
RHHS Wildcats

Richmond Hill placed several players on their respective All-Region teams in Region 2-AAAAAA for tennis and soccer after all four teams made it to their respective state tournaments this spring.

In girls’ soccer, first-team selections were Grace Kiser, Ruthie Riley, Carly Vargas and Ellie Filamonczuk. Honorable mention went to Bella Martinez. Arianna Page and Lexi Merry.

For boys’ soccer, Joseph Petrino, Agboade Sobowale, Roman Alvarez, Trever Blitchington and Cristian Marquez made first team.

For girls’ tennis, Hannah Yontz, Megan Bausch and Stephanie Harter all made the second team at singles, as did the doubles team of Bailey Lopata and Caren Bausch.

For the boys, Jackson Martin was first team singles and Alec Shermer was second team singles. Zach Sewell received honorable mention.
