Family Promise fundraiser July 22

Unity in the Community will host a 5-on-5 basketball tournament for high school players from 2-7 p.m. July 22 on the outdoor courts at the South Bryan County Recreation complex to raise money for Family Promise of Bryan County.

The entry fee is $10 to $25 per player and donations will also be taken at the gate. Family Promise is a nonprofit organization that is raising money in order to open a homeless shelter.

All-Region picks for spring sports announced
RHHS Wildcats

Richmond Hill placed several players on their respective All-Region teams in Region 2-AAAAAA for tennis and soccer after all four teams made it to their respective state tournaments this spring.

In girls’ soccer, first-team selections were Grace Kiser, Ruthie Riley, Carly Vargas and Ellie Filamonczuk. Honorable mention went to Bella Martinez. Arianna Page and Lexi Merry.

For boys’ soccer, Joseph Petrino, Agboade Sobowale, Roman Alvarez, Trever Blitchington and Cristian Marquez made first team.

For girls’ tennis, Hannah Yontz, Megan Bausch and Stephanie Harter all made the second team at singles, as did the doubles team of Bailey Lopata and Caren Bausch.

For the boys, Jackson Martin was first team singles and Alec Shermer was second team singles. Zach Sewell received honorable mention.
