A big challenge awaits Richmond Hill this weekend, as the Wildcats head to Statesboro on Saturday for the region duals tournament.
RHHS head coach Robert Parker said Camden County is the favorite in the tourney, with the Wildcats looking to compete with Effingham County and Coffee for the second spot.

The top two teams will move on to the state duals meet, which will be Jan. 14-16 in Macon.
“I like our chances, though,” Parker said. “We have had some weights adjusted that should make us stronger than in the past, I hope. Our kids are ready for the challenge.

The Wildcats finished fourth out of 16 teams at the Valdosta Invite on Dec. 30. Alex Hill (220 pounds) and Will Evans (113) each was runner-up in his weight classes. Taylor Wilson was third at 182, and Drew Renshaw was fourth at 195, Michael Allen finished fifth at 106, Rakeem Littles was fifth at 132, and Akeem Littles was fifth at 152.

The junior varsity wrestled there as well, and some of them brought home medals as well.
“I often forget how young a team we have and how well they have competed earlier in the season,” Parker said. “As a team, we are ahead of where

I thought we would be. The young guys are doing very well and are being led by our seniors.”
Richmond Hill’s scheduled dual with South Effingham on Tuesday was canceled.
