All-Region baseball teams announced

Richmond Hill and Bryan County both placed several players on their respective All-Region baseball teams this season, including four first-team selections each.

First-team in Region 2-AA for the Redskins were Brian Meyer, short stop; Colin Brown, catcher; Gage Hagan, second base; and Cam Smith, outfield. Pitcher Dahlson Brown earned second-team honors.

For the Wildcats, infielder Rick Mitchell and pitchers Jackson Finley, Brandon Becker and Nick McCollum were first-team in Region 2-AAAAAA. Tyler Harrison and Casey Green earned honorable mention.

Bryan County finished the season 20-10 overall and 5-9 in the region. This is the first Redskins team to win 20 games since 1983.

Meyer hit .449 on the year with 12 RBIs and two homers. Smith batted .387 and led the team with 19 RBIs, while Hagan and Colin Brown both hit .338. Hagan also had 20 stolen bases in 21 attempts and Colin Brown had a team-high eight doubles.

On the mound, Dahlson Brown recorded 60 strikeouts in 54 innings, finishing the year with a 2.18 ERA to go along with a 5-3 record.

Richmond Hill finished the season 19-11 overall and made a sixth consecutive trip to the state tournament.

Mitchell hit .390 and drove in 12 runs while garnering a .926 fielding percentage.

Becker went 4-0 on the mound with a 0.62 ERA, while Finley led the staff with a 0.29 ERA and a 6-2 record. McCollum had a 1.39 ERA and struck out 65 batters in 40 innings.

Green had five saves on the mound and a .357 batting average, while Harrison hit .333 and tied for second on the team with 14 RBIs.
