Hendrix hoopsters hit hardwood

On Jan. 22, the Hendrix Park Youth Recreation Association kicked off their basketball season. Featured was an event in which each team got to play two games each in the 8 and under division.
The first game was Buck Bragg’s team against Rick Mitchell’s team. Jordan Tyler scored 2 points and Jeffrey Young scored 4 points. The final score was Mitchell 6 points and Bragg with 0.
The second game was Charles Williams team against Eddie Perry’s team. Warren Thomson scored 2 points and King Shatteen scored 2 points, making the game a tie 2–2.
The third game was between Buck Bragg’s and Charles Williams’ teams.
Nathan Leggett scored twice with free throw shots giving him a total of 2 points for Bragg’s team.
Tyrese Brown scored twice giving him a total of 4 points and Shyla Gaines scored 2 points. The final score was Williams 6-2.
The final game of the night was Eddie Perry’s team and Rick Mitchell’s team.
Ethan Perry scored one 2 pointer and scored a free throw of 1 point. King Shatteen also scored 2 points on Perry’s team. On the Mitchell team, Jordon Kirby & Jeffrey Young both scored 2 points each. The final score was Perry 5-4,
On Jan. 23, Bragg’s and Williams’ teams played. Nathan Leggett, Arkail Brown and Tyrese Brown. All made one free throw shot, making the final score Williams 2-1.
The Hendrix Park 10-and-under team coached by Dwayne Williams played Pooler 1.
Alex Simmons scored 6 points and Jacob White scored 2 points. The final score was Pooler 21-8.
In the 12 and under division, the Hendrix Park team, coached by Michael Smith, played Pooler 1.
Jaylan Rawls scored 18 points, Mychael Smith scored 4 points, Tyler Poythress and Sherron Bacon both scored 2 points each and Antonio Brown scored 6 points. The final score was a nail-biting 33-32.
On Jan. 25, Eddie Perry played Rick Mitchell in the 8-and-under division.
Ethan Perry scored 6 points and King Shatteen scored 8 points on Perry’s team. Daniel Estes and Jordon Kirby scored 2 points each, Carl Shuman scored 4 points and Jeffrey Young scored 10 points on Michell’s team. The final score was Mitchell 18-14.
Dwayne Williams 10 and under Hendrix Park team played Pooler 2. Terrence Riley and DeSean Simmons both scored 2 points each and Alex Simmons scored 14 points.
The final score was Pooler 22-18.
Michael Smith’s team 12 and under boys played Pooler 3. Tyler Kirby scored 2 points, Antonio Brown scored 4 points, Mychael Smith scored 9 points and Jaylan Rawls scored 10 points.
The final score was Hendrix Park with 25-22.
