Georgia Southern opens a two-game home stand Saturday when the Eagles host former Southern Conference rival The Citadel at Paulson Stadium in Statesboro.

Kickoff is at 6 p.m.

Bulldogs quarterback Richmond Hill native Dominique Allen is 8-of-11 passing for 172 yards and a touchdown and is second on the team with 180 rushing yards, according to citadelsports.com. The Citadel (2-0) is first in the Football Championship Subdivision with an average of 438 rushing yards per game.

The Eagles (1-1) bounced back last Saturday with a 43-17 win over Western Michigan in Statesboro. Matt Breida had four touchdowns and 176 rushing yards.

Last year’s starting quarterback, Kevin Ellison, returns to the roster this week after serving a two-game academic suspension.

According to gseagles.com, Georgia Southern and The Citadel have met 23 times dating to 1988. The Eagles hold an 18-5 advantage in the series, including a 12-1 mark at Paulson Stadium. However, 11 of the contests have been decided by 10 points or fewer, including the last three meetings.

The Richmond Hill record for most shutouts in a season by a football team is four by the 1996 and 2012 teams. The Wildcats got that many this past week capped by a 49-0 blanking of Everglades, Fl., on Friday night at Wildcats Stadium.
