Friday, March 6: Region foe Lowndes County showed us why they’re ranked #1 in Georgia. The Trojans swept Richmond Hill in their 3-game region series by winning both games Friday, 10-3 and 3-0.
In game 1, Lowndes County had a 14-hit attack and scored 7 runs in the 5th inning to put the Cats away. Heath Davis went 4 for 4, drove in a run, and scored 3 times for Lowndes, and Hank Drew went 3 for 3, with 3 runs batted in. Shane Tucker led the Cats going 2 for 3 at the plate, with an RBI. Noah Stone started for the Cats on the mound, and Junior, Brinson Roundtree, got the start for the Trojans, pitching 6 strong innings, and getting the win.
In game 2, Lowndes scored 2 runs in the 1st inning, and 1 in the 2nd inning, to hold the Cats to only 5 hits and get the 3-0 victory. Cason Fletcher, Hank Drew, and Tyler Parker each had 2 hits for Lowndes. Noah Stone led the Cats with 2 hits. Landon Walker started for Richmond Hill on the mound and pitched 5 and two-thirds of an inning, striking out 5, not allowing a walk, and only allowing 2 earned runs. Easton Blanton was on the mound for Lowndes and struck out 9 Cats, in 6 innings, and got the win.
The Cats travel to Tifton, Ga. Tuesday to take on region foe, the Tift County Blue Devils, at 5:30 p.m. Then the Cats host Tift County, Friday, March 13, with a doubleheader. First pitch is set for 4:30 p.m.
