What are you building for your family

As I was reading Hebrews chapter 11 recently, I came across this interesting verse. It was verse 7 and it reads like this, “By faith Noah, when warned about things not yet seen, in holy fear built an ark to save his family.”

Noah was told to build the ark because a great flood was coming that would destroy the earth and all inhabitants that were not in that huge boat. This scripture reveals to us that one of the key reasons he was so diligent in doing so was that he wanted to save his family from destruction.

The scripture teaches us that there will be a time when this world will come to an end and those not prepared will be lost eternally. It teaches us that instead of an ark to rescue us it will be the assurance of sins forgiven brought about by choosing to accept Jesus. We as believers need to be diligent in doing what we can in order to see our families make it safe into heaven.

Whether we will admit it or not, we are influencing our family members to either make right decisions or wrong ones. We are not building an ark but we are building reputations; we are building moral foundations; we are building habits and lifestyles that serve as examples. We should be building times of prayer for those members of our family that they all are prepared to meet their creator.

The good news is that as Noah’s family all got safely into the ark, our family can one day make it into heaven.
