Spring book sale a success
Letter to editor

Editor, The annual Spring Book and Yard Sale sponsored by the Friends of the Richmond Hill Library on Saturday, April 5, was a resounding success. Although FOL offers books for sale every day in the library, the spring and fall sales are special events that raise the majority of the funds the group contributes to meet the library’s needs.
All proceeds benefit the Richmond Hill Library, funding the summer reading program and purchasing large print books and current bestsellers.
FOL is grateful that the Richmond Hill community supported this activity through donations of books and yard sale items and also by coming to purchase books. Special thanks go to Baldino’s for lunch and to Jeff’s Beverages for the boxes used in sorting and pricing the books.
The generous outpouring of support for FOL and for the library is recognition of the importance of literacy in our community and of how much organizations such as FOL contribute to fostering literacy. It is indeed heartwarming to know that we live in such a generous, giving community.
As coordinator of book sales for FOL, I urge others to continue donating books and to consider joining Friends of the Library. Dues are $15 per year for individuals and $25 for families. Membership forms are available in the library. The group meets at 10 a.m. on the second Monday of each month, September through May, in the large conference room of the library.
