On Sunday, July 1, Magnolia Manor on the Coast thought we had a situation involving a missing person.

It was later discovered this person was not missing upon his arrival home from attending church with another resident. And, although we have standard procedures for accounting for each and every resident, this resident was unaccounted for during this time. Because Magnolia Manor on the Coast believes safety and security are of utmost importance, we initiated our emergency response plan.

This plan involved a campus-wide search of the entire building, outside grounds and areas that border our facility. We also initiated an effort that extended into the community at large and beyond to neighboring towns.

I want to thank all of our Magnolia Manor residents and staff for your cooperation and support during this time. Many thanks also go to the organizations and people that responded to this situation. We are extremely fortunate to live in a community that has the ability and resources within the Fire and Police Departments to respond so quickly and appropriately to potential disaster situations. We also observed the collaboration of additional emergency response teams and units as they arrived on the scene. Their efforts and teamwork were very impressive. And the support of people in the community and personal friends was also extremely helpful.

Fortunately this situation ended well. We thank God for the many blessings we have living in such a thoughtful and caring community as Richmond Hill.
