Letter to the editor: Right lights would make intersection less dangerous
Letter to the Editor generic

Editor:

A recent article in the Savannah Morning News noted the high number of traffic accidents at the intersection of Harris Trail Road and US 17 over the past five years. I believe this is directly attributable to the lack of protected left-turn signals at that intersection.

Folks going north on 17 have one, to turn into the Food Lion shopping center; but folks heading west of Harris Trail, wanting to turn south on US 17, have to wait until traffic clears, coming out of the Food Lion parking lot, as there is no protected left-turn signal on Harris Trail at US 17.

Why is that? Installing one for both sides of the entrance/exit to Food Lion would surely reduce the problem.
