How will others know we are Christians?

There are many Christians around the world, but how does someone identify as a Christian?

One way is to tell others you are a Christian, but that in itself doesn’t make a person one. You could either be lying, or you may not truly understand what a Christian really is.

Genuine Christians should tell others about their faith.

Look what Jesus said in Mark 5:19: “ Go home to your own people and tell them how much the Lord has done for you, and how he has had mercy on you.”

Jesus tells us another way a Christian can be identified in the book of John, chapter 13, and verse 35 when He states, “By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” In other words, others around you can identify you as a Christian because Christians are people who have unconditional love for one another.

Another way is to exemplify a new way of life. 2 Corinthians 5:17 says, “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old (life) has passed away; behold, the new (life) has come.”

Christians develop new habits, attitudes and lifestyles that follow after the example of Jesus Christ.

So, the big question is: do others around you know you are a Christian?
