There has been much speculation lately about deity. It is as if some men have become oblivious to the teachings of the Bible. God created all things and has given man His word (the Bible) so man can learn how to please God. In Genesis one the Bible tells of the Godhead, God the Father, God the Son and the Holy Spirit.
Notice these passages: “In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters” (Genesis 1:1,2). Then in God tells how He created all things, making a place suitable for mankind to live and then on the last day of creation God says, “And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth” (Genesis 1:26). Notice the passage says, “Let us make man”. Who is the “us”. To find out the answer to this question one must go the the book of John in the New Testament.
Yes John has the answer for this question. “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.
In him was life; and the life was the light of men.
And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth. John bare witness of him, and cried, saying, This was he of whom I spake, He that cometh after me is preferred before me: for he was before me” (John 1:1 – 4, 14, 15). Yes deity does exist and has left mankind with words by which man can have salvation. The Hebrew writer wrote, “God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets, Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds; Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high; (Hebrews 1:1- 3). So in these passages one finds that deity does exist, this includes God the Father, God the Son (Jesus) and God the Holy Spirit.
Those who would be religious must see that God’s word is true and everlasting. The Bible shows the love of God for all mankind. God could have destroyed man when man sinned, but His love allowed man to live and to be able to partake of the promise given to Abraham of the blessings in Christ. Mankind must realize that God does exist and has a plan for man, but if man fails to follow God, it will lead to destruction (Gal. 1:6 – 9).
