Editor's Corner: Column No. #2837201
Andrea Gutierrez new

I am quickly running out of ideas for these ‘Editor’s Corner’ columns. Which is a shame, because I genuinely do enjoy writing them–provided I actually have something to write about. When I don’t, putting pen to paper (or index fingers to keyboard) is about as fun as filing taxes or finally going to the dentist to get your teeth cleaned, for Christ’s sake (guess which one of those activities I haven’t done yet).

Most, if not all of the columnists that feature in the Bryan County News tend to not only be good writers but they also have interesting lives and diverse professional backgrounds that enable them to have insightful thoughts and analyses to share with the public. I mean, just take a look at that Tom Hand guy on page 7; he never runs out of cool American history stuff to write about, to the point where I’m contemplating driving up to Athens to get a second bachelor’s degree in history just so that I too can join in the fun in chronicling endless stories from the French-Indian War.

No, but seriously–our columnists add a lot to this humble paper, and I’m glad to run their work for as long as I am able to. Although my life experience is limited, and I may not know much about history beyond films starring Keira Knightley, I hope I soon find better material to write about for the Bryan County News audience– topics that go beyond me talking about my personal shortcomings and anxieties, which include but are not limited to: public speaking, applying eyeliner (yes, still), swallowing pills as a form of medicine, my fear of failure, my hand-eye coordination (or lack thereof) and Algebra II.

Some songs I have on repeat, courtesy of Spotify Inc.

Here’s a list of some songs from my “On Repeat” playlist on Spotify. A word to the wise: when it comes to the car aux, I’m most definitely the Editor-In-Chief and I don’t take suggestions from the audience. (But I do always bring enough snacks for road trips! That has to be a point in my favor.)
