Town Centre Drive closure starts Friday

The City of Richmond Hill has announced that starting Friday, Nov. 2, Town Centre Drive will be detoured and people needing to access the area can do so via a detour of Brisbon Road. 

The area is expected to reopen by Wednesday of next week.

Officials said the detour will be for the storm drainage crossing at the intersection of Highway 144 and Town Centre Drive. 

Message boards will be installed prior to and during the detour for advanced warning.

Bryan County Commissioners on Tuesday night deferred a decision on whether to rezone some 3.8 acres near the historic Burnt Church Cemetery to allow a Parker’s Kitchen convenience store. The vote to defer the decision for 30 days to look into concerns raised by opponents to the project came after several residents – including parents of children buried in the 195-year-old cemetery – urged commissioners to deny the rezoning.
