The Food Bank, Inc.'s third annual Kaleidoscope Fundraiser will be on Thursday, November 12, at 6:30 pm at The Food Bank, Inc. Tickets are $39 per person or $78 per couple. Corporate or Friends & Family Tables are also available. Both tickets and tables can be purchased online at https://givebutter.com/kaleidoscope2026. You can also purchase directly from your phone – text Kalei26 to 53-555 and follow the prompts.
The evening, sponsored by Brodie International, will feature a fall harvest-inspired meal, including BBQ ribs by Rev. Chef Harris, and other dishes by local chefs. Guests will enjoy live music by both The Chris Mitchell Band and GSU Jazz Quartet. Outdoor fun will include a Corn Hole Competition and the Boro the Hatchet mobile unit. Our silent auction featuring unique items and experiences offer attendees the opportunity to directly support The Food Bank, Inc. programs.
The community is invited to celebrate 39 years of providing food and hope for communities throughout South Georgia.
"We serve not only Statesboro and Bulloch County, but clients from the contiguous counties and further," stated executive director Sheila Stewart-Leach. "If someone asks us for food, we do our best to provide at least three meals a day for a week."
Stewart-Leach noted that demand has increased exponentially in the past two years. "When we first moved to our new building in 2024, we served an average of 300 families per week. That year's hurricanes, Debby and Helene, pushed that number to 860 per week. Following that, our new normal became an average of 500 families per week."
"In the fall of 2026, the SNAP crisis pushed our numbers to 850 families per week. Those numbers have not fallen; in fact, for the past four months, we have been providing meals for an average of 900 families per week. Our October numbers are closer to 1000 families."
She explained that Food Bank, Inc. records indicate that over 95% of Food Bank clients come one time per month or less. "We are not serving the same families every week," she emphasized. "Most come once or twice, during a difficult time, then re-establish their family budget; some even begin to donate or volunteer."
Proceeds from the November 12 event will be used to provide nutritious food, educational resources, and emergency support for individuals, families, seniors, and children in need.
