Summer road construction and maintenance continues

Georgia Department of Transportation continues to improve highway infrastructure throughout Southeast Georgia. As a result, work on construction and maintenance projects will continue this week.. Road work that will likely impact traffic are listed below.
 
All work is subject to change due to weather or other factors. Motorists are cautioned to reduce their speed while traveling through work zones, pay attention and watch for workers.
 
Lane closures are listed below by interstates and counties.

Interstate 95
 
I-95 at Belfast Keller Rd. new interchange Milepost 79-83 in Bryan County.
Pacing of traffic in both directions to remove overhead utility lines
Wednesday July 31 from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.


Traffic paces will start southbound near Exit 87 (US 17/Richmond Hill) and northbound near Exit 76 (Midway/Sunbury) ending at or near mile post 83.  These traffic paces will be utilized to remove overhead utility lines across the Interstate at Belfast Keller Road overpass.
 
Traffic will be paced in both directions at 20 mph typically not exceeding 15 minutes. Law Enforcement will be piloting the traffic paces to maximize safety. Blue lights will be utilized to alert and channel motorists through the area. All work is contingent on weather and other factors.

Motorists are advised to reduce speeds, consider alternate routes and avoid the area. Expect heavy congestion if you must travel on I-95 during paces.
 
I-95 Southbound in Bryan and Liberty counties.
South of Exit 90 in Richmond Hill to south of Exit 67/South Newport
Nighttime Resurfacing Mon. – Sat. lane closures 7 p.m. until 7 a.m.
 
I-95 at Ardick Road overpass in McIntosh County.

St. Mary’s River Bridge to Exit 22 resurfacing project
Through Thursday 7 p.m. to 7 a.m.
 
I-95 in Liberty County
Daily lane closures 9 a.m. to 4 p.m .for Vegetation Removal.
 
Bryan County

McLendon Enterprises, Inc. began work Monday on the $1.2 million resurfacing project on US 80/SR 26 in Bryan County. Work on the 5.7-mile long portion of US 80 extends from Ogeechee River to the Bulloch County line.

 McLendon will be performing milling and asphalt inlay operations then striping the roadway each night from 7 p.m. until 6 a.m. Single lane closures are utilized on this two-lane roadway with flaggers to aid traffic through the work zone. Project completion is expected by the end of this year but all work is contingent on weather and other factors.
