Tropical Storm Bret has formed in the Atlantic, but is not expected to pose any danger to the eastern seaboard of the United States.
The National Weather Service's Hurricane Center reported the formation about 100 miles west of Great Abaco Island Sunday night. It issued warnings for the Abaco Islands and Grand Bahamas.
By 8 a.m. this morning it was about 65 miles north northwest of Abaco (27.4 north and 77.5 west) with sustained winds of 50 mph. The center said it appeared to be drifting south overnight, but is expected to start moving north northeast later today.
It is the second named storm of the season. The first formed in the Caribbean and hit Mexico earlier.
