Next storm is Igor; still far off
igor-thur-morning
With Hermine moving into the Midwest, weather watchers are now starting to focus on Tropical Storm Igor, which is still east of the Cape Verde Islands, but which could become of interest to Southeastern residents next week.
The National Weather Service reported this morning that it was moving north-northwest at 6 mph. The service's current forecast turn a little to the west, which could keep it south of Georgia' Coast.
Current sustained winds are near 40 mph and tropical storm force winds extend out 50 miles. Early this morning it was at latitude 14.7 north and longitude 24.8 west.
Igor is expected to strengthen over the next few days.
