Meeting set for House subcommittee

The House Education Subcommittee on School Redesign, chaired by state Rep. Valencia Stovall, D-Forest Park, will hold its next meeting from 5-7 p.m. Oct. 19 at Georgia Public Broadcasting in Atlanta.

The meeting will focus on state assessments and accountability, and attendees are invited to share thoughts on alternative assessment tools, opportunities for student-centered learning and policy barriers.

This subcommittee will host interactive community workshop sessions across the state for educators, parents, students and community members to provide input on designing a new student-centered state assessment, funding and accountability measures.

Subcommittee members include Reps. Wes Cantrell, R-Woodstock, vice chair; Dave Belton,R-Buckhead; Randy Nix, R-LaGrange; and Miriam Paris, D-Macon.
