The Richmond Hill Police Department is asking the public for help in finding an alleged armed robber.

According to police, an armed man entered the Motel 6 on Hwy. 17 on the evening of Nov. 9, jumped across the counter and demanded money from the attending clerk.

RHPD Capt. Mike Albritton said the clerk had just changed shifts and was counting her drawer when the suspect entered the lobby.

"He attempted to remove the surveillance video tape, but was unsuccessful," Albritton said. "He then fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash."

Albritton said the tape is part of an ongoing investigation, but he hopes someone in the area will come forward with more information. The suspect was described as a black male, between 5 feet, 10 inches 6 feet, 2 inches, with a thin build. He was wearing a black ski cap, black sweater and black pants. He was brandishing a black revolver, Albritton said.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Albritton at 756-2664 or call the anonymous tip line at 459-BUST.
