The Heritage Bank’s Midway branch was robbed Wednesday afternoon.  Liberty County Sheriff Steve Sikes confirmed the report and said authorities are canvassing nearby neighborhoods in search of a suspect.

According to a “be on the lookout” alert issued by a 911 dispatcher, the lone suspect, who used a handgun during the robbery, is a black male wearing a hat and carrying a shopping bag. He is driving a tan Crown Victoria.

The Heritage Bank Marketing Director John Crowley also acknowledged the robbery and said no one was injured; however, he referred all further inquiries to the FBI.

The bank branch, which is less than two miles from Interstate 95, has been robbed five times previously, most recently in May of this year. No arrests have been linked directly to any of the robberies.
