The following is from Richmond Hill Police reports:
Fire
Oct. 19 – An air conditioning unit caused a fire around 5 p.m. in room 237 at the Econo Lodge on Hwy 17. The Richmond Hill Fire Department was able to quickly extinguish the fire, but the blaze extensively damaged room 237. Rooms 235 and 239 suffered smoke damage as well. No injuries were reported.
Public drunkenness
Oct. 12 – Two Richmond Hill men were arrested around 1 a.m. on Piercefield Drive, and charged with public drunkenness. Police responded to a possible altercation at the Juke Box Pub and later found the two men walking in the roadway on Piercefield Drive. The men were arrested after police determined that they were blocking the roadway and interrupted the normal business at the pub.
Oct. 16 – A Midway man was arrested around 3:13 a.m. at the Waffle House on Sommers Boulevard and charged with public drunkenness. The man refused to leave the restaurant and, upon the police officer’s arrival, became belligerent.
Burglary
Oct. 13 – A Richmond Hill woman told police someone stole two gold rings and about $50 cash from her home between 8:20 a.m. and 7 p.m. on Oct. 12. The woman said she accidently left her back door unlocked.
DUI
Oct. 15 – A Richmond Hill man was arrested around 2:20 a.m. on Hwy. 144 and charged with DUI. He was pulled over for failing to maintain his lane.
Possession of marijuana
Oct. 14 – A Winter Springs, Fla., man was arrested around 9:30 p.m. on I-95 near Exit 20 and charged with possession of marijuana. He was pulled over when the officer noticed that the driver’s side headlight was out.

DUI
Oct. 15 – A Richmond Hill man was arrested around 10:20 p.m. on Hwy. 280 in Ellabell and charged with a DUI. The man was observed swerving in the road and later stopped his car in the center of the road.
Oct. 16 – A Hinesville man was arrested around 11:30 p.m. on Hwy. 17 in Richmond Hill and charged with DUI – second offense. He was pulled over after a police officer saw him pull his truck out in front of traffic and swerving in the road.
Oct. 16 – A Richmond Hill woman was arrested around 1:20 p.m. on Harden Road in Richmond Hill and charged with driving under the influence of drugs. A witness observed the woman failing to maintain her lane on Hwy. 144 and later drive her car into a ditch on Harden Road. She told police officers that she had consumed two Xanax pills, which treats anxiety.
Oct. 16 – A Richmond Hill man was arrested around 1:20 a.m. on Hwy. 17 in Richmond Hill and charged with a DUI. The man was pulled over for swerving and speeding.
Burglary
Oct. 15 – A Pembroke man told police officers around 5 p.m. that someone entered his home and stole his television, worth $1,006.
