Police apprehend Subway robber

The Dublin Police Department has apprehended the man believed responsible for armed robberies between Chatham County and Orange Park, Fla., including one in Richmond Hill, according to the Richmond Hill Police Department. 

According to a press release issued late Monday night, Robert Cole, 26, of Savannah was taken into custody Monday and confessed to RHPD detectives in Dublin to the June 7 armed robbery of the Subway on Exchange Street. Cole is implicated in at least seven similar robberies in other jurisdictions.

RHPD has requested that Cole be extradited to its jurisdiction upon the completion of his current charge and arrest in Dublin.

Nuclear plant's safety discussed at meeting

The Nuclear Regulatory Commission staff will discuss the 2017 safety performance of the Hatch Nuclear Power Plant during an open house from 4-6 p.m. April 24 in Room 171 of the Southeastern Technical College, 3001 East First St., Vidalia. The two-unit Hatch plant is located near Baxley, about 20 miles south of Vidalia, and is operated by Southern Nuclear Operating Co. NRC employees responsible for plant inspections, including the resident inspectors based full-time at the site, will be available to discuss its performance.
