Possession of marijuana: Dec. 16 — Just after 3 a.m. officers stopped a Fort Stewart man on Highway 17 near Ponderosa Road because his tail light was damaged. The driver was arrested because his license was suspended, and officers found a bag of marijuana in the Hinesville passenger’s shirt pocket. He was also wanted in Liberty County for a probation violation and was arrested.

Dec. 21 — Just before 2 a.m., officers stopped a Richmond Hill man near Osprey Drive because his vehicle registration was suspended. Officers smelled marijuana inside the vehicle, and when asked about it the man began to shake nervously. The man admitted to having marijuana in his console and a glass smoking pipe on the floorboard.

Public drunkenness

Dec. 9 — A Richmond Hill man was arrested around 8 p.m. near Piercefield Drive after he was seen jumping in front of traffic. Officers found the man stumbling in the middle of the road and noticed he smelled of alcohol.

Dec. 18 — Just after 8 p.m., officers responded to the T/A Truck Stop on Highway 17 after someone reported a woman in the parking lot was yelling at people and urinating in the parking lot. The Decatur, Ga., woman had trouble standing and her speech was slurred. The woman admitted to drinking and was arrested.

DUI

Dec. 8 — Shortly after midnight a Richmond Hill man was stopped on Highway 144 near the entrance of the Ford Plantation. The man was driving 71 mph in a 55-mph speed zone. Officers smelled alcohol and the man said he had a “little bit” to drink earlier in the evening. After failing several field sobriety tests, the man was arrested.

Dec. 12 — Shortly before midnight, officers stopped a Richmond Hill man on Highway 17 after he was seen swerving on the roadway. The man nervously fumbled through his wallet trying to locate his driver’s license and insurance card, and his face was also flushed and his eyes were glossy. The man said he was coming home from a Christmas party where he had several drinks. The man also had a cup of alcohol in his car.

Dec. 18 — Around 5:30 a.m., officers responded to Interstate 95 at Highway 144 after someone reported an accident. Officers found a Midway man whose vehicle had been damaged because when he switched lanes behind a semi, he misjudged the distance and lost control of his vehicle. The man said he had been drinking earlier in the evening, and officers found a clear plastic cup with alcohol.
