Boy found safe after Bryan County Sheriff's Office search

UPDATE: Sheriff’s deputies report the Georgia State Patrol located the boy in some woods by his house and he is safe.

Bryan County sheriff’s deputies are searching for a missing 9-year-old boy in the Saddlebrook subdivision in South Bryan County off of Highway 144 off of Sweet Hill Road.

The boy, who has Down syndrome, was last seen around 2 p.m. He was barefoot and wearing Spiderman pajamas. Anyone with information should contact the sheriff’s office at (912) 756-2181

Nuclear plant's safety discussed at meeting

The Nuclear Regulatory Commission staff will discuss the 2017 safety performance of the Hatch Nuclear Power Plant during an open house from 4-6 p.m. April 24 in Room 171 of the Southeastern Technical College, 3001 East First St., Vidalia. The two-unit Hatch plant is located near Baxley, about 20 miles south of Vidalia, and is operated by Southern Nuclear Operating Co. NRC employees responsible for plant inspections, including the resident inspectors based full-time at the site, will be available to discuss its performance.
