Pembroke City Clerk Sharroll Fanslau has been placed on administrative leave after city council met in executive session Monday night. Pembroke City Administrator Alex Floyd said council “after much deliberation ... had lost confidence in (her) ability to fulfill the duties of City Clerk,” in an email following the meeting.
Floyd said Fanslau cleaned out her desk Tuesday morning.
It’s unclear what will happen next.
Fanslau was appointed clerk in 2016 after longtime clerk Betty Hill retired.
In other business, council members decided there will be no “door to door” trick or treating on Halloween. Pembroke Downtown Development Authority Director Renee Herndandez is working on an alternate celebration.
