Pickett to serve in career counselor competition

Army Sgt. 1st Class Jason G. Pickett has been was selected as the 2018 Component Career Counselor of the Year for U.S. Army Forces Command during a competition at Fort Bragg, North Carolina.

Pickett contributed significantly to the success of the Army Retention Program. Pickett's initiative, drive and personal commitment to excellence and caring for soldiers enabled his organization to meet increasingly difficult retention and transition missions during a turbulent period.  

Pickett will represent nearly 350 of his peers at the Secretary of the Army Career Counselor of the Year competition this February.

Selection was based on the individual's exemplary duty performance, job knowledge, leadership qualities, teamwork ethic, personal achievements and record of supporting and serving the community.

Pickett is currently serving as a career counselor with 504thMilitary Police Battalion, Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Washington. He has served in the military for 16 years.

Pickett is the son of Shanta M. Pickett of Richmond Hill. He is also the husband of Antoinette M. Pickett.

The airman graduated in 2001 from Baumholder Junior/Senior High School, Baumholder, Germany.
