Navy promotion: Navy Seaman Apprentice Nayeong Seok, daughter of Kounghi Yi of Richmond Hill and Euntae Seok of Richmond Hill, was recently promoted to her current rank upon graduation from recruit training at Recruit Training Command in Great Lakes, Ill.

Seok received the early promotion for outstanding performance during all phases of the training cycle. Training included classroom study and practical instruction on naval customs, first aid, firefighting, water safety and survival, and shipboard and aircraft safety. An emphasis was placed on physical fitness.

Seok is a 2011 graduate of Brewtech Magnet High School of Montgomery, Ala.
