Clydesdales at Stewart Today

See the world renowned Budweiser Clydesdales up close during a Hitching Demonstration/Parade of the Hitch event (weather permitting) today (March 12) from 4:30-6:30 p.m. at Newman Field. There also will be a Folds of Honor Scholarship presentation and announcement of winners of a Stewart/Hunter “Here’s to the Heroes” essay contest.

 Corkan Family Fun Center Reopening With “New” Roller Rink

Flooring of the roller rink at Corkan Family Fun Center has been replaced and new padded, carpeted safety barrier walls have been installed, clearing the way for the center to reopen on Friday (March 13) at 3 p.m. The center also offers Laser Tag, Bounce Houses and 3-D Climbing. It is open Fridays from 3-8 p.m., Saturdays from noon-8 p.m. and Sundays from noon-6 p.m. Private parties and groups are accommodated by appointment. For more information, call 912-767-4273.

 “Compressed Get Golf Ready” at Hunter   

“Compressed Get Golf Ready,” from 9 a.m.-noon Saturday (March 14) at Hunter Golf Course, is open to beginners and novices looking for instruction and information to add to their enjoyment of this great game. Register by Friday (March 13). Learn proper mechanics of golf, putting, short game, full swing, rules and etiquette. Cost of $90 per person for three-hour session of instructional program includes a one month membership. For more information, call 912-315-9115.    

 Powerlifting & Bench Press Challenge at Stewart

The Powerlifting & Bench Press Challenge begins at 10 a.m. Saturday (March 14) at Newman Fitness Center. There is no charge for spectators. Contestants must be 16 years old or older to enter and will be placed into one of 11 different weight classes (male and female). USPF rules apply and lifting shirts allowed. Awards will be presented to the top three bench press and power lifters and each paying participant receives a T-shirt. Weigh-in begins at 8:30 a.m. and the competition starts following a 9:30 a.m. contestants’ briefing.

 St. Patty's Special at Stewart Bowling

 St. Patrick's Day “Erin Go Braugh” Golf at Stewart/Hunter

No need to go downtown to celebrate St. Patrick's Day on March 17. Come to Taylors Creek Golf Course or Hunter Golf Course and celebrate in peace and tranquility.Bring a golfing buddy, and if both of you wear something green, you receive a two-for-one golf special with 18 holes of golf and golf car.   Day of Offshore Fishing with Leisure Travel

Register until Sunday (March 15) for a day of offshore fishing, sailing out of Jekyll Island on March 21. The cost of $135 per person includes bait, tackle and transportation. Special BOSS price of $70 per single Soldier. Participants must be 12 years old or older. Keep what you catch if in season (limits set by Fish and Wildlife).  Managed Hog Hunt at Stewart

Hunters who would like to participate in a Managed Hog Hunt in Delta Complex at Fort Stewart on March 28 should register at the Stewart or Hunter Pass & Permit office before March 19. Gold Star Family Members, Purple Heart recipients and WTB Soldiers will receive special invitations to attend. The hunt is also open to Active Duty Soldiers and Retirees. The 40 slots for the hunt will be filled by lottery drawing March 19. The cost for those selected is $10 per person. For more information, call 912-767-4316.

 Vintage Hitchcock: A Live Radio Play Dinner Theater at Club Stewart

Enjoy a three-course buffet and live performance adaptations by MWR Community Theater of three early Alfred Hitchcock films March 20 and 21. The stories come to life in the style of a 1940s radio broadcast. Dinner begins at 6 p.m. and shows begin at 7 p.m. both evenings at Club Stewart.  10-Minute Swing Tune-Up on Hunter Golf Range

Purchase a large bucket of driving range balls and receive a 10-minute tune-up of your golf swing during the hours of 10 a.m.-1 p.m. on March 21 and March 28 at Hunter Golf Course.  Marne Trail Bass Tournament at Fort Stewart 

The Marne Trail Bass Tournament, a catch and release event, will begin at safe light (6:30 a.m.) March 21 at Pineview Lake on Fort Stewart. Cash prizes are $250 for first-place (total weight, five-fish maximum per person) and $100 for the largest bass. Door prizes will be awarded after weigh-in, which begins at 11 a.m.Stewart/Hunter permit holders can fish from the bank or launch a bass boat (trolling motors only). No live bait will be permitted. Boat rentals will be available at Holbrook Equipment Center to Military ID Cardholders who hold a boat safety certificate.Fee is $25 for Active Duty Soldiers, Retirees and their Family Members and all youth (15 years old and younger). The registration fee is $35 for the civilian community. Registration fees on the day of the event are $30 for Active Duty Soldiers, Retirees and their Family Members and youth 15 and younger). Stewart/Hunter Post-wide Housing Garage Sale Registration

Register for the Great FMWR Post-Wide Housing Garage Sale, scheduled from 8 a.m.-2 p.m. April 25 at Fort Stewart and Hunter Army Airfield. There is no charge to register or to sell. Registration ensures your site is placed on a map of sale sites for potential buyers.  Only residents of post housing are eligible to sell, but everyone, including civilians in nearby communities, is invited to the neighborhood garage sales throughout Stewart and Hunter post housing areas. Those interested in participating should contact the Fort Stewart Sports Office at 912-767-8238 or at Hunter Tominac Fitness Center at 912-315-2019.
