Christy Cook

Christy Cook is a senior at Bryan County High who is President of the Beta Club, tennis team member, and volunteer who likes to help people and hopes to do great things with her life.

Where are you originally from and how long have you lived in Bryan County?

I am from Bryan County and have lived here, in the same house, my entire life.

What year are you in school?

I am a senior in high school.

What do you like about Bryan County High School?

I like that it’s a small school and that I’ve grown up with my class and I get along with everyone. Also, that we don’t really have strong clicks at this school.

What is your favorite subject or subjects?

I can’t pick one! English is my favorite subject because the meaning behind the words goes so much deeper than the page. I also thoroughly enjoy history because what happened in the past helps us learn from our mistakes and allows us to shape our future for the better.

Do you enjoy school - what particularly to you like about it?

Yes, I do enjoy school. Sometimes I get tired after all the grueling hours of work, but I love learning something new then encountering a situation in life when I get to use that knowledge.

Which extracurricular activities do you participate in?

I am President of Beta Club and have been involved in it for 2 years now. I am also on the Bryan County tennis team and this will be my second year participating.

When you are not in school, what do you like to do in your spare time?

When I’m not in school, or working as a hostess at The Shellhouse restaurant, I am at home doing chores, reading, doing homework, watching TV, at church or just hanging out with friends.

What do you plan to do or be when you graduate from high school?

When I graduate from high school, I plan to attend college, most likely Armstrong University or Georgia Southern; where I plan to take classes to become a neonatal nurse.

What else do you like to do?

I really do enjoy helping people. I volunteer in the nursery and children’s church program at my church, and also participate in charity programs such as Christmas Angel and Operation Christmas Child. Every summer I look forward to the mission trip my youth group participates in, where we go to a different city across the country each year and volunteer in the community in Salvation Army organizations, soup kitchens, kids club, etc.

What do you like about living in Bryan County / North Bryan County?

I like that even though I may not know everyone, North Bryan County is a fairly small, quaint, friendly one. It’s just far enough away from the city to where you feel like you’ve still got peace and quiet, but that you’re close to the things you need.

If you could change one thing about North Bryan County, what would it be and why?

I would like it if it was slightly more developed; if we had a few nicer, sit down restaurants for families go to eat dinner.

Is there anything else you would like to add or tell me about you and what you like to do?

I’ve always hoped that I could do something great in my life, to make some kind of difference. I haven’t found out what that is yet but I hope to discover it someday. But my main goal is just to do my part to help people in this world.
