A 13-mile stretch of westbound Highway 144 west of Highway 119 will be closed from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Wednesday as Winn Army Community Hospital hosts Warrior Games Local Cycling Trials, according to the Fort Stewart public affairs office.

Cyclists will be competing for best time, which would qualify them for the Warrior Games Regional Trials at Fort Benning.

The 2016 DoD Warrior Games is an adaptive sports competition for wounded, ill and injured service members and veterans. Approximately 250 athletes will participate in eight sporting events, representing teams from the Army, Marine Corps, Navy/Coast Guard, Air Force, U.S. Special Operations Command and the United Kingdom (U.K.) Armed Forces. The DoD Warrior Games highlight the resiliency and warrior spirit of service members, veterans and their families and caregivers. Adaptive sports and athletic reconditioning activities play a fundamental role in the successful recovery and reintegration of our service members and veterans.
