The Pembroke Police Department has a little spare change in its pocket after receiving a donation Thursday from local business Liberty Auction.
Owners of Liberty Auction, Lori and Matt Mattingly, decided to give $1,000 to the police department due to its constant support of the auction house.
“We basically just wanted to give back to the community and to the police department because they support us throughout the year,” Lori Mattingly said. “They always take care of us in a timely and professional manner.”
Liberty Auction is a weekly household consignment auction on Industrial Boulevard in Pembroke and has been holding auctions in that facility for 13 years, Mattingly said. She added this is a first-time donation to the police department.
“We thought it was a good place to donate and show that we appreciate the things they do for us,” she said. “Several of the officers are customers. And if and when the need arises that I need law enforcement, I call and they are right here.”
