Military exercise across area
Placeholder Image

An exercise is under way through Oct. 23 on military-training areas on Fort Stewart, Camp Blanding Joint Training Center in Starke, Fla., and in the surrounding communities.
The 1st Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment is conducting the military exercise involving units from the 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment from Fort Campbell, Ky., and Air Force Special Operations Command from Hurlburt Field, Fla.
Soldiers are using training ammunition and other devices to make the exercise as realistic as possible. A number of different rotary wing and fixed-wing aircraft are being used.
There will be periods of increased air traffic including low-flying aircraft — both helicopters and airplanes — at night. Increased air traffic and noise may be associated with a large airborne operation involving the Rangers.
This is a routine exercise, conducted periodically to maintain readiness for military personnel.
