Info for SNAP recipients impacted by hurricane

SNAP households that experienced a loss of food due to significant power outages during the recent power outage caused by Hurricane Matthew may be eligible for SNAP replacement benefits.

Customers are asked to complete and sign Form 841 Food Loss Replacement Form http://dfcs.dhs.georgia.gov/emergency-food-stamp-benefits-replacement and return to the local DFCS office, either in person or by mail.

Verification of the power outage is required in order to replace the benefits; however, customers do not need to contact their power company to verify the outages. DFCS staff are working with GEMA and local power companies to gather the needed verification in an effort to expedite replacement of benefits for eligible households.

Verification of the outage has been confirmed for Bryan County. The local DFCS office can be reached at (912) 644-5956.
