The sister of a Richmond Hill woman killed by gun shots over the weekend has created a GoFundMe account for the family.

According to the Richmond Hill Police Department, Breona Watkins, 29, was shot around 3:30 a.m. Sunday at Plantation Apartments. She was transported by EMS to St. Joseph’s Hospital in Savannah where she later died. Her husband, 32-year-old Jeremiah Joel Watkins, turned himself in at the Hinesville Police Department Sunday afternoon.

Jeremiah Watkins remains lodged in the Bryan County Jail on a charge of felony murder. No court dates have been set yet.

Breona Watkins’ sister, Desirae Bell-McRae, started the GoFundMe campaign Sunday to help pay for funeral costs. Breona Watkins also leaves behind a daughter, Mia, who is less than a year old.

“Words can’t explain the pain my family is going through,” Bell-McRae said on the website. “I started this so I can surprise my mom and dad” by paying for her sister’s funeral costs.

“Any donation will help,” Bell-McRae said. “I just want my family to grieve in peace.”

The account as of Wednesday morning had $805 in donations from 11 people toward a goal of $20,000. It can be found at https://www.gofundme.com/7xnrxv-breona-b.
