More than 16,400 people in Coastal Electric’s four-county coverage area are without power, spokesman Mark Bolton said Monday as wind and rain from Hurricane Irma through coastal Georgia.
But, Bolton said, early assessments show the damage wasn’t as bad as it was during Hurricane Irma.
“As soon as our crews head out onto the system I think we will make a lot of progress,” Bolton said. “We will work late tonight to get as many people on today as possible.”
Bolton said as soon as it is safe for crews to begin working to restore power they will begin cutting trees off lines.
