Students in Inga Cashon’s foundations of engineering class at Bryan County High School today launched rockets they constructed as part of the 2016 Georgia STEM Day. This is the fourth year in a row Cashon’s class has participated.

Students completed a unit on aerospace engineering and designed their own wizard rockets. Cashon said junior Cole Morrison planned and assisted with the activity. A short video of the event can be seen at: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=My82mTkSYHg.

Georgia STEM Day is sponsored by TAG Education Collaborative, the Technology Association of Georgia’s charitable arm dedicated to preparing the next-generation workforce. TAG-Ed’s mission is to strengthen Georgia’s future workforce by providing students with relevant, hands on STEM learning opportunities by uniting TAG resources with leading education initiatives. The group says that in two years there will be nearly 220,000 STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) jobs available in Georgia and not enough qualified applicants to fill them.
